If Jurina was interested in being a leader she should have expressed an opinion on the NGT scandal as Sashi did. Instead, everything must be all about Jurina or she is not interested.

@Momo She was also a victim of AKS' bullying tactics. For the sake of SKE48 she must remain silent, plus people would accuse her of just virtue signalling and just dipping on the issue (because AKS made her look really bad). But trust me, Jurina has a lot of beef against AKS.

@Momo the world doesn't revolve around that singular incident (not to make light of it) and Jurina had nothing to do with it, to frame everything that happens going forward in the world of AKB around how each idol or team reacted to that incident is absurd - you need to learn how to apply balance to your thought process. @trump the peacemaker good god, Jurina was not attacked by a gang of men nor was she mistreated by management, maybe a member or two didn't lke her or how favoried by management she was and let her know in a nasty way but that isn't the same. Management pushed and protected her and gave her some of the best spots they had to give - she owes them a lot and for that she should keep her lips sealed. Please see my correction.

@Momo you're putting her in a position where if she said she wanted to be the leader she'd be seen as greedy person who wants everything (ace, center, #1, leader) but when she's not, she became "someone who's only interested in herself"?

She's silent because it's the wiser thing to do, she's not even the captain of Team S nor the whole SKE and never part of NGT. She's not the manager of anything like Yuihan Mion Sasshi, moreover she's under different management and agency. Have you seen what happened to Dasu for expressing her opinion?

You're finding fault in anything she does, I can never understand hater's logic.

@Trump The Peacemaker ..Jurina spoke of taking a leadership role when she came first in the election. This motivated her "scolding" of Sakura. This was her big chance. Leaders should not fear to do the right thing at the right time. The NGT scandal was a opportunity for Jurina to remake her image and fulfill her election promise. Sashi, Mion, Yukirin, and Kitahara all responded in one way or another to the NGT thing. Jurina was a a sad disappointment.

Jurina has been pushed by management since she joined SKE and has been a relative failure. People talk about how popular she is and that is because management told you she was the "ace" and that you should like her. Even when Rena outranked her management still pushed Jurina more. She has been declaring first place in the SSK since the beginning and never achieved it. She had to literally wait until everyone that her senpai graduated except Miichan and for most to decided to not participate anymore. I honestly want you to think what does Jurina do...what is she the best at. She can't sing well and there are better dances in the 48G. She isn't an actress outside 48G related Dramas also she isn't that funny or typical idol cute. She cant even lead or take care of her own members. Has she ever turned down a center so someone else could get some shine NOPE. She "scolded" sakura more like bullied her Jurina has been crying every year for not getting 1st lol she is a spoiled brat.

@bored kun I'm not really a fan of Jurina and I never liked her overboard push but to be fair for what it is (an idol group) she is an ok singer and dancer somewhere in the top 25-30% of most of her generation and before but looks is complete subjective. We can't blame her for her push, her fans fanaticism or how she handled the pushes she got publicly because we don't know what went on behind the stage and in private. Everyone should take every chance they are given because when you pass on them they stop coming.

Jurina's face in these pics looks (dare I say it) a bit chubby?

@Joe I am talking about leadership opportunities. They don't come along every day. This one fell into the lap of whomever wanted to lead. As for balance, I prefer mine to yours any day, but thanks for your concern.

  • Comment Link Joe Sunday, 05 May 2019 10:30 posted by Joe

@Momo As expected. Real leaders don't have to be given leadership opportunties they create them by being awesome and worthy - to be a leader means that others see you as one and choose to follow your lead.

  • Comment Link Momo Sunday, 05 May 2019 14:40 posted by Momo

@Joe Then we agree that either way, Jurina failed in the leadership role she assumed with her rise to number one. That was especially disappointing since Jurina returned from her hiatus very subdued and not at all like she was before. The NGT issue was an opportunity to remake herself.

@Bored kun Jurina is best in being herself. You do realize that to be an idol in Japan one does not have to be good in singing or dancing? There's Sasshi with her terrible singing and dancing, and Sakura who has no sense of rhythm. Idol is someone to look upon and entertain fans with not just singing and dancing, it's about personality, communication and the effect they give to fans. As an idol, they need to capture the fans' heart and she's rather successful in that, how is she even a failure? You don't see her charm, that's fine. However, if she's such a failure, how did she even garnered so much attention from international Kpop fans when her total screentime was so little? Her P48 vids total view count makes her in the Top 4 (and there's only 2 fancams of hers)

Do you remember how many girls got the super push from management who did actually failed and eventually faded? Take for example: Takamina was the real original ace, but Acchan snatched her position as center. There's Haruppi who had to gave up her center position for Meru and then both got surpassed by Sakura. That's how we have sth like "Original Ace of xx Generation". Mirurun, the NMB48 ace never make it to Kami7 and was dropped from Senbatsu last year.

She waited for her senpai to graduated before she finally reached the top, what's so wrong with that? She's still #1 in a fair way, it's not like she cheated on them. She cried because she failed to fulfill her dream and her fans wishes, she's not even playing the graduation card nor the last senbatsu card. And she's in a really good relationship with her senpais, meaning she's not even that greedy to stole their popularity, how did you see her as greedy person when she respect her senpais so much? Rena might outranked her once, but so did Mayuyu who outranked Sasshi once. The difference is, Sasshi fans are hella rich and they didn't give up on making her #1 (but I see those fans can't help HKT48 sales).
Also idk how people measure the abstract ability like leadership, but I've seen so many kouhai who worship Jurina, can't that be an indication? (@Momo: I think Jurina meant they're leading the 48G as aces not as actually leader).

There's been tons of ambitious girls aiming for: "being the fastest to rank in her generation", "being a part of senbatsu", "being one of the Kami7" "to center a song" etc. She's not the only one to declared her ambition to ranked #1 numerous of times and failed, are Mayuyu, Takamina, Sakura etc that forgetful or maybe you're being biased?

Since you brought up about it, imho a spoiled brat is someone has no backbone to continue performing after getting a little scolding, had to sob dramatically hard and decided not to be in the same picture with her 'bully' even though it's part of her job as a 'professional'. What's her skill that she's ranked #3 in ssk and #2 in PD48? She got no singing nor dancing skill. Her only skill is being attractive and that's all an idol need, so Sakura and Jurina are practically the same. But ofc you choose to hate one and love the other.

It is just discussion. No need to involve other members, you know, I am not talking about your "#3".

@ Tuberose You seem to have an incredible amount of insight into Jurina's thought's motivations, and intent. I will just chalk it up to oshi over protection. It's quite common.

@momo thank you, I could say the same for you except what you're doing is the exact opposite. I wonder how do you came up with all those deductions.

@Tuberose No mystery there. I measured and weighted your elephantine comments.

Idols have different personalities.Being a leader doesn't mean you have to accomplish the same level of achievement done by the past leaders,is how you do your best as you could to put the whole team altogether.By the way,Jurina looks like campaigning for city mayor.Jurina for Mayor!

Respectable leaders don't go AWOL and laze about at home for 3 or 4 months leaving their co-members to pick up their slack. Selfishness has no place in leadership. Talk is cheap and is often just a front, but it's a person's actions that decide whether they are a good leader. Jurina is the 'Francesco Schettino' of the idol world.
