According to ORICON NEWS, AKB48's single sales have surpassed the 50 million (50.878 million) with the release of their 40th consecutive chart topping single "Sentimental Train". The idol group's total CD sales (57.518 million) break the record become the 3rd best CD selling artist and 1st best CD selling female artist of history (Japan).
AKB48’s 53rd single "Sentimental Train" was released on 19 September 2018, the single sold 1,448,900 copies in its first week of sales.
Note: AKB48 53rd single CENTER Matsui Jurina did not participate in AKB48's 53rd single "Sentimental Train" production, but she returned on 6 September 2018, they may produce a new version of MV with her participation.
