that's what happens when u go international

They're also the highest selling debut no? But the sales is high thanks to solo covers too, wonder how much it would sell if 48/46 also applied solo covers for their single.

For a hybrid Jpop/Kpop group, that number is very impressive on the Jpop scale, especially since they outsold all the 48 sister groups. And on a kpop scale, the number is astronomical. The Adorable Dozen have done very well indeed.

Sakura (3rd rank with 141,106 votes), Hitomi (17,656 votes) and Nako (6th rank with 51,620 votes) are there, Japanese wotas will eat them up
If their sales are because “KPOP fans” or "KPOP scale" or “go international” whatever all that mean, it will be sold in million and Sakura will get 4 million US dollar per year beating Sasshi in income like many KPOP fans said LOL

BTW talking about scale, according 2017 IFPI data...
Japan physical music industry worth US$ 1.9638 billion
South Korea physical music industry just worth US$ 182.928 million

Compare this Oricon number to Produce 101 "At the Same Place" single sales at 807,282 "download" and you know where Oricon number are come from
I'm willing to bet the sales number will be a lot different if there are no Japanese idol there or only Hiichan is in there

Akimoto always open for business and this time his client is that produce thing
This is not about produce thing boost 48 group popularity, it’s the other way around

Lol. Sakura and Nako are also in HKT's last single. And the biggest one, Sasshi is also there. So those 3 alone, you should expect huge numbers for HKT singles. That didn't happen. So your argument that these huge IZONE sales is mostly because of SakuNako is invalid.

    Ok, I’ll play LOL
So it’s because KPOP fans in global scale buying their new single, go KPOP and go global!

May I remind you that Oricon is Japan chart rankings based on physical sales
If "global" KPOP fans are responsible for their sales that mean right now post office in Japan are flooded with Izone single for them to send to all over the world

Yeah, I think that is more logical explanation than Japanene wotas eat them up

^It's Japanese wotas (admit it they're the richest) + Koreaboos (Japanese and International) + normal fans + Aki-p's marketing strategy with solo covers (honestly I doubt it would sell over 150k without the solo covers of each members)

well, messi or ronaldo can only do as much if they play for dumbarton fc.

@ekop Yes, Oricon physical sales only covers Japan. But to imply that the Japanese popularity of IZONE is solely because of Sakura and Nako is kinda misleading. You see, if Sakura+Nako really have huge followings (I mean, wotas that follow them wherever group they go), then isn't it logical that HKT's singles should sell real huge? I'm even thinking that half of HKT's sales are from Sasshi's fans alone. If that assumption is true, then SakuNako isn't really contributing much to album sales. Has it ever occured to you that maybe, the IZONE group itself is becoming more popular in Japan?

Before this, Produce already made girls group with their top single "At the Same Place" recorded to sold 807,282 "download" in Korea (Gaon Music Chart)
Now with Izone they have 190,000+ physical sales in Japan (Oricon)

Is it soooooo hard to see why??

Partnering with Akimoto is Produce strategy to make them a lot more visible and to tap in to wotas wallet, not the other way around LOL
With Sakura, Nako and Hitomi in there, now Produce have a way to tap in to AKB48 fans, HKT48 fans, Team 8 fans, general 48 group fans, Sakura, Nako and Hitomi fans, Japan idol fans etc

    I'm not denying Izone popularity
I'm just saying what I always said from the start, "Izone success will be measured by Yen"

@ekop Not true. While the Japanese is the 2nd largest single music market in the world behind the US, and makes Korea look like a pygmy, Kpop does have one huge advantage that Akimoto wanted to tap into - Kpop's global footprint, which is much larger than Jpop's.

Akimoto is no fool, he saw the potential for global growth that Kpop has long been cultivating and wants to grow 48/46 Group. Japan is a large but limited market and it is already over-saturated. The only growth vector is beyond Japan. But, instead of trying to build a global vehicle for 48/46 from scratch he brilliantly used Produce 48 to do the work for him and it worked out quite well.

It is no exaggeration to say that probably millions of people in Korea and all over the world were introduced to 48/46 by Produce 48 and IZ*ONE. I know because I am one of them and see plenty more like me online. 48/46 members are now seeing more English on their social media and Showrooms than they had during their entire schooling, and I'm sure more sales are coming from outside of Japan than before P48.

Produce 48 and IZ*ONE are a rare example of something in which everyone involved was a winner.

    @Jolly_Roger & @EKop -

"Produce 48 and IZ*ONE are a rare example of something in which everyone involved was a winner"...

Everyone but Jurina. Imagine if she just toughed it out (or took just took a week or 2 off after SSK). Sakura, Nako, Mako, Juri, Hitomi, Miyu, Vivian, Miru & others all gave everything they had for "Produce 48" because it truly was a once in a lifetime chance at something huge. Miku dropped out from a leg injury but she was already golden in AKB. Jurina could've made bank if she had just gotten over that SSK hurdle- why did she blow herself out, it's obvious she would've won SSK anyway.

Sakura was smart- she paced herself for the Produce48 Marathon & didn't look back after #3- kept her chin up fought thru the summer - Now look, She's going global. Jurina's group got sold off while she was on sick leave.
