Since AKB48 General Election 2018 Event, this year's champion Matsui Jurina has been taking a hiatus. That, of course, leaves her fans to wonder when she will return from hiatus, perhaps there is a good news from SKE48 manager Yuasa Hiroshi, according to his tweet, Matsui Jurina is getting better recently.

Note: Technically, Matsui Jurina began taking a hiatus for poor health condition since 7 July 2018.

I am worried that unless her return is played right the single might fall out of the million sales range at least in the first week. The song is only OK and the lineup is kind of weak compared to even the last single. Jurina is really the only legacy member in it.

Comeback right after P48 finished? Hmm fishy but glad to hear that, been missing you J

Hopefully Jurina will act more like an idol and less like a pro wrestler.

@tuberose it was heavily rumored that the PD48 final group is an exclusive 18 month contract (total contract 36 months). I can't imagine 48G sans Jurnia for more than a year. So yea, this all ties up nicely for AKS if Jurina makes her triumphant return in the next month or so... perhaps during the concert for the Janken tournament.

So is she going to address the absence? I think she could spread awareness of her "affliction" if she talks about it. Get some sympathy- Like say it's "Fibromyalgia" she could do a lot of good. The theories were pretty wild as what could cause a 2 month disappearance. Whatever it was I'm sure it's not above AKB/SKE to 'milk it' for Jurina's sake- especially if it can help others.

@Tuberose I hear ya, trying to steal Sakura's thunder?? "Ya know if you don't dance right AKB48 is gonna die"- JURINA said this to Sakura the night of the election...Yet, Jurina was ranked class "B" & Sakura was ranked "A" by Korean Professionals. My greatest regret is that we'll never know when Jurina would've been eliminated from Prod48 because of her "Hiatus"- 2 months w/out saying anything to fans? I don't have to tell you what that looks like.

@(Not so)conscious pilot she doesn't owe anybody any explanation as to why she had to take a hiatus.

I find it odd that Jurina has never been a team captain. It is not her age. Her current team captain is younger than she is. She has never been in a leadership position of any kind, but she claimed to be taking a leadership role when she chastised Sakura. She could have gotten away with this if she did not double down on her self bestowed leadership position when talking to the media afterwards. It did not help when she said that, since she was now number one, she was not afraid of anything. Jurina has stage presence, works hard, and is a good idol, but she should leave the leadership to those that are qualified if she wants to stay out of trouble.

@(Not so)conscious pilot: you read too much. I was talking about the management

  • Comment Link Joe Monday, 03 September 2018 14:14 posted by Joe

@Really morally and legally she does not but that isn't a position that is likely to win you support beyond crrent supporters and might risk pushing away some if them if she is dismissive of fans desire to know why this public figure who they are asked to have an emotional and supportive connection with was AOL at the time where you've invested to most personally in her assention a support. So does she owe her fans an explanation? If she wants deserve their continued support I say yes but that is her decision to make and can keep the reason for her massivly public hiataus a secret if she chooses.

why we are arguing? lol. the most important thing is that thankfully she is getting better. thank you for those who have prayed for her healing whatever the reason behind it.

@ concious pilot lol ive had fibromyalgia for 6 years and it is as much of an affliction as the flu. no need for awareness or action lol

  • Comment Link saikouu Tuesday, 04 September 2018 02:22 posted by saikouu

@twoonetwo well your fibromyalgia isn't that bad then, mine is literally debilitating. But I do have other illnesses on top of it so... ye

  • Comment Link Tuberose Tuesday, 04 September 2018 03:02 posted by Tuberose

@Momo:you don't necessarily need to be captain to lecture someone in 48G. It's seniority and superiority.

  • Comment Link CONscious Pilot Tuesday, 04 September 2018 03:30 posted by CONscious Pilot

@Twoonetwo SEE! You have my sincere sympathies. I hear it's rather debilitating & I admire the strength of people who forge on w/ "Chronic Pain". I agree w/ Joe.

This is NOT a "Rub your Nose in it" situation - it's a TRUST & Awareness issue. Jurina is essentially a "Brand" right? I've heard every theory from MK Ultra to 2 Month suspension (she was fine!) to rehab for Coke to a recurring disease. Her actions "that Night" effect EVERYONE (Idols, Management, Investors, Marketers)- if was for example "rehab", she needs to come clean. I'm suspecting drug use carries STEEP penalties in Japan so I get why she can't "say it" & drag AKS down w/ her but Paruru went to work like a trooper w/ scarred up knees & bruises & Tweeted from her hospital bed & she admits to being the laziest Idol ever.

Jurina owes anyone who bought her a vote some kind of answer. This blind devotion to her w/out holding her accountable to the same standards as a 1st gen like Minegishi or NGT scandal of the month Rika Nakai is what is going to mar her "Trust" image. People who have invested in her deserve to know if she was hooked on drugs (or whatever). She doesn't own ME (personally) a thing- But her attitude of "I'm #1 now- what I say goes" is gonna destroy AKB.

By Mid 2019 there will already be 3-4 Japan-Korean Hybrids ready to fill the Idol Void if AKB48 has anymore "Issues". AKI-P could've EASILY prevented this by promoting IN-House "Aces" but he relied on 3 Sister-Group girls...and we all know how that's playing out.

Somehow you missed the point. The question is, if Jurina aspires to leadership, why has this never been recognized by the management by making her captain? The incident you mention is only one example of the fact that Jurina does aspire to leadership. Anyone can be a critic.

  • Comment Link Tuberose Tuesday, 04 September 2018 14:12 posted by Tuberose

@Momo: because that will make her a captain, center, senior and all. She'd be too powerful that more people will deemed her as 'greedy' like how people addressed her now, when she actually deserve those positions because she work hard and earned it.

And I understand you're not on her side, that you dislike J. So I won't response to your next comment. This is not our first time having this kind of conversation.

I am afraid you are mistaken in several instances. The Senbatsu Election is a popularity contest and nothing more. The Team captains are either appointed by management or, in some cases, voted by the team members. The team captains have demonstrated that they are leaders. The winner of the Senbatsu election has demonstrated nothing but popularity. Previous winners of the Senbatsu election, Maeda, Yuko, Mayu and Rino did not immediately get big headed and make a spectacle of themselves. They did not consider themselves the new leader of AKB group. They remained themselves and were happy to be popular in addition to whatever other skills they had or did not have. I do not dislike Jurina. I have mentioned that she has some admirable skills and features, but leadership is not one of them. People should be willing to accept that their favorites are not perfect and should not make an issue over minor differences of opinion.

Leadership roles basted on the senpai/kohai relationship are baked into the Japanese culture so in that respect Jurina had every right to assert herself if she thought her kohai were not showing proper respect to seniors by slacking off because a group that lacks cohesion would make everyone look bad. I just think the timing was the factor because everyone was stressed. Why and what she said may or may not have been productive in any situation but Jurina had a right to speak up.

  • Comment Link Momo Wednesday, 05 September 2018 14:12 posted by Momo

Whatever Jurina did, it led to her mysterious disappearance, cut off from email and social media. This is a punishment. It is unprecedented. Others have gone on hiatus without being cut off from the world. There has never been an instance that I know of in which one Kami 7 pulls the "senpai/kohai relationship" on another Kami 7. That is a little over the top, even for the Japanese Culture.

Momo regardless of placement in the line up the relationship is about seniority among colleagues within an organization like a school or workplace. There can be no doubt that Minegishi could chastise Jurina for lack of effort if on stage together if she thought JM was dragging down the entire performance and Jurina is ranked a lot higher in pecking order so why wouldn't Jurina who is even more senior to Sakura than MM is to her be allowed to? I am not saying JM was right, or that her comments were helpful or uplifting because clearly they didn't come off as such. Has anyone said if they caused Sakura to work harder or did they crush her spirit? I don't know. But if JM meant well by it then she acted approprately.

@ Joe .. To me, the question is not, did she have the right, it is did she do the right thing. Was it really necessary at that time and that place? It would have passed without much notice but Jurina could not resist boasting to the media about how she had to chastise Sakura during the performance. I think that was a terrible move. She should have told the media guy that it was a private conversation. I have no concern whatever what Jurina tells Sakura or anybody else in a private conversation. She can play senpai all she wants. More power to her.
I think that her interview with the media is what got her banned from saying anything to anyone on email or social networks ever since that time.

I am literally facepalming. It doesn't matter if she is a team leader or not, she is still A SENIOR. Worst things have been said in older generations and nobody cried and made a huge drama about it, just saying. She had all the right to say it, she meant something good, that's pretty much it.

Now, if you get off your biased horse, you would notice it. I didn't know calling out someone out for lack of effort was /this wrong/. This is why I dislike Sakura stans.

@ Nope You call me biased and then say "this is why I dislike Sakura stans." Comical and sad at the same time.

I'm happy that J is back. This is litterally everything I've been talking about for the whole day. And yet now I'm scrolling down the comments (which DUH is always a bad decision) and I read something discrediting Sakura stans. I hope the people who thing that will someday get their heads out of their arses and stop talking nonsense. My tl is FULLY PACKED with thousands of Sakura stans and I've never seen any of them talking shit about my J. The Sakura thread in Stage48 is also very clean. J has had haters for the past 10 years. People need to stop pretending like 90% are Sakura stans. They already have enough to deal with Sakura's own haters. For the sake of J and S, stop creating conflict where there is none.
