    Whoa I'm amazed! They even surpassed the other sister groups latest sales. Anyone know what's the trigger? Is it because of the captain's hardwork? Or could it be because two of them were chosen to replace SakuNako for NWM? Or maybe their interesting showroom? Nonetheless congratulations for the achievement!

    Not surprised it sold better than the last one; it's a better song. Having a ballad as a debut didn't work out that great for them.

    @Tuberose They've been working hard at making their presence known. The number of variety shows they have is now greater than or equal to the other sister groups (STU's Imousu is following the same tried and true formula as Nemousu and it's entertaining because of it) and they've been appearing at a lot of idol festivals with lesser known groups.

    Honestly they've been doing pretty well without relying on their captain. The girls have gained their fair share of fans.

    Who the fuxk says here that "whole 48G is dying"? Whoever that is he must have something clear in his dummy mind, once and for all:
    LEGENDS N E V E R DIE .
    They are the ones called in to come and perform the main act and save the day.
    Got that or you need any additional explanation.

    @Elvin thank you! I know the girls are loveable and the quality for this single has improved, it just that I don't see much news on them (individually other than Naachan) so I'm not aware of their brand's strength yet.

    @ray
    As an admin, I revised your comment a bit, sorry, but I have to.

    It is me (and many fans) is saying "whole 48G is dying" (except BNK48 and STU48 perhaps), I don't think I need to explain, if you read my site's news clearly, you may know the answer, anyway, I agree LEGENDS NEVER DIE.

    Thank you for your comment.

    @Tuberose I agree they don't make the news very often (and they're rarely on variety shows other than their own besides Naachan, Yumirin, and maybe occasionally one other) but they've been putting in the work and pounding the pavement in their own turf.

    Lots of really dying acts would love to do 1% of what 48 groups are doing to save their days though.

    Less interest, yes for sure but dying ???
    with the flagship level of sales ???
    Let's be serious.

    @Someone48
    How many years have you following 48 group? (I am not mocking).
    Do you still remember good old days? 48 group was everywhere, each top members had their own TV CM, TV drama/movie roles (even lead roles), magazine cover, etc.

    Do you really understand 48 group CD sales? What is 48G's core business? Do you ever check each group's net profit last year?

    Paul
    I am following AKB48 since way before your 1st site existed, and the 48 groups are still very far from the River days where selling 300k singles on release day was a dream.
    And if 48 groups were really dying, do you think they would still invest that much ?
    Even without looking deep in numbers it's no rocket science to see they keep recruiting, keep a high level of marketing, keep organising their major events and even keep expanding. So still profitable.

    Only for these past 2 months, the singing contest, the Asia festival, the RH aren't cheap event to organise and all these while releasing their usual stuffs, keep running non profitable theater shows etc ...
    Yeah for sure the 2012-2014 years were far better (no Nogizaka ready to take the spot), but to call it a close to death group, there's still a big gap.

    For a future dead, I find it still breathing well.

    @Someone48
    You did't answer my questions, but well, ok, I don't mind answer yours.

    I don't find anyone investing them anymore;
    Of course, they are still recruiting, they are not disbanded yet, moreover Recruiting a new members to replace senior members is a way to cut cost;
    High level of marketing? Did you ever follow Singing Contest's Twitter?
    Are you sure they are running other major events anymore? read the news deeply, please.
    Asia Fes.? Read my previous comments please;
    Where did Singing contest hold? Asakasa Act Theater!
    RH is not cheap? are you sure? TDC Hall
    Usual stuffs? are you kidding me? When will they release their album this year? Where will they hold Dome concert again?

    Past 2 months... Moreover, do you really know AKB48 group is facing a very serious PR crisis now, did you read NGT48 news lately? by the way, did you read NGT48 Theater schedule which I posted it a few days ago?.

    It seems to me that Ray is a young good guy, so I want to tell him a little more. But, I am an AKB48 fans, so... I don't want to comment about it anymore, that's it.

    @Someone48 48G is indeed dying, before you mad I would like to tell you that dying is not final yet. There's a chance to survive.

    Like Paul has pointed out, the quality of the events are bad compared to back then. It's less prestigious and cheaper. No more big sponsor, no big CM, no big influencer like the Kami7 (except Sasshi and Sakura maybe, Yukirin is not popular with riaju and Jurina is hated by young people).
    Members like Tomochin and Marikosama and Kojiharu were most demanded for CMs and were admired by young girls (https://japantoday.com/category/entertainment/akb48-pair-itano-shinoda-appear-in-most-tv-commercials-in-2012), and it's not just whatever kind of CMs. Wonda Coffee even made numbers of different CFs featuring different members bc they were so popular individually.
    For concert, these days there are more solo concert which is good but it could be interpreted as a desperate way to promote the members (back then members don't need this kind of push to get recognition). They no longer hold dome tour and current gen said dome concert is their goal meaning they're back at point zero.
    Members and management held an emergency meeting bc they realised they're on verge of death.
    Sister groups sales are dropping (bet if AKB no longer select the sister group's members to be in their senbatsu they would eventually die)

    Things like Produce48 and Asia Festival (a cheaper way to promote the SEA48) were a smart move but at the same time it let us see how 48G's popularity in Japan is decreasing that they need to venture to outside Japan.

    The management is bad, okay, but the personalities of current members is a disappointment tbh. No backbone, they complain all the time, talking about equality when they don't have strong brand image to earn more money to get the so-called fair treatment that they demanded. In the good ol days, members perform as a group but today they're trying to outshine each other. If you watch the performance by Yuihan, Jurina, Mion, Naachan (young gen who still value the old gen's idea) you could see they never tried to stand out alone, they would constantly look at the other members while performing and only look at the camera when it's their part.

    If the members were selfish, the fans were also bound to compare them. I think the main reason of them dying is bc there's no unity anymore when they couldn't even shine on their own.

    @Someone48 Apparently, Nogizaka and Keyakizaka are both more popular in common households these days than 48G. I find the Billboard Japan yearly Top 100 as the better indicator of popularity because it includes digital downloads and streams as well as physical sales whereas Oricon top 100 for last year is purely based on CD sales. Keyaki's Glass Wo Ware and 2 Nogi singles (Synchronicity and Jikochu de Ikou) ranked higher than AKB's Teacher Teacher last year. The problem for 48G is that only hardcore fans buy CDs and 48G girls have many hardcore fans what with more than 300 (or is it 400) members. They also need to attract common listeners who are willing to stream their songs. That's how Yonezu Kenshi, Hoshino Gen, and DA PUMP dominated last year's yearly top 5. Only one 46/48 song entered the top 5 and that is Keyaki's Glass Wo Ware (maybe because it's a rock-oriented song).

    Here are the Billboard Japan top 10 songs of last year (and you can clearly say it's legit because the top 5 are really really really popular in Japan):

    1. Lemon by Yonezu Kenshi
    2. U.S.A. by Da Pump
    3. Glass wo Ware by Keyakizaka46
    4. Uchiage Hanabi by Daoko x Yonezu Kenshi
    5. Doraemon by Hoshino Gen
    6. Synchronicity by Nogizaka46
    7. Jikochu de Iko! by Nogizaka46
    8. Candy Pop by TWICE
    9. Sayonara Elegy by Suda Masaki
    10. Teacher Teacher by AKB48

    Gone are the Heavy Rotation and Koizuru Fortune Cookie days for AKB when they were so popular to the general public. I understand Jurina's frustration. She said she wants to make AKB Group #1 again. Let's see if she can do that.
