Niigata Prefecture Governor Hanazumi Hideyo held a press conference today (16 January 2019).

For Niigata local idol group NGT48 member Yamaguchi Maho assault incident, Hanazumi Hideyo hopes the fact will be revealed as soon as possible, and the group's situation return to normal. On the other hand, he does not consider withdrawal of NGT48 from the special supporter role of the prefecture's National Cultural Festival and National Disabled Art, Cultural Festival.

Hanazumi Hideyo also said he regarded NGT48 is one of important asset of Niigata tourism, and hopes the group can get rid of negative image as soon as possible. He also wants to watch over the group's inner investigation procedure by the 3rd party committee.

While Hanazumi Hideyo was asked if NGT48's scandal affect Niigata prefecture's reputation, he admitted he does not know, but he said it is the fact that the idol group is well-known now.

Note: Hanazumi Hideyo appointed NGT48 as a special supporter role of the prefecture's National Cultural Festival and National Disabled Art, Cultural Festival in July 2018.

This guy needs to make sure the police do there jobs and make some arrests. Don't let these guys who broke into Maho's apartment walk away free just because they said, "Sorry."

The weasel sponsors who are running and hiding under the covers should take a cue for this guy, support the girls but lambaste management. Although he;s not exactly lambasting, better than most of the "Suit and Ties"

Ditto to what @strider said. The only thing that will placate outraged fans and the public is action, not words. Niigata's and Japan's image has been tarnished all over the world who have read articles and seen news stories about what happened and how these filthy subhumans were just released. The police need to arrest and charge them with whatever the Japanese equivalent is to breaking and entering, criminal trespassing, stalking, and assault. The higher powers like the governor, mayor, police, chief need to ask themselves if protecting these two or three worthless shitstains is more important than fixing the damage to the police's, Niigata's, and Japan's image, even if they don't care about giving an innocent young woman victim the justice she deserves.
