Providing security to dozens of Celebs on a Cruise liner is no easy task. The probable angles of threats on a floating vessel cut off from the mainland is a league above the threats that come with running a theater on land. I just hope the management here knows a bit about what they are dealing with and have taken all angles of nonsense into account. Here's to hoping that STU48 remains true to their roots like they are today and release some wonderful music like their 2nd single.

So nice to see the boat finally finished... and their proud crew ready for some tours of that gorgeous Inland Sea...

I mostly agree with the security concern; have some experience with this from mil... it's a valid one since a lot of expected passengers may come from Tokyo Olympics spillover, meaning loads of foreigners.

On a ship the size of the STUgo, the hypothetical terrorist has the advantage due to deck height above the water's surface (its draft/draught)... and structural steel walls everywhere, so surveillance is difficult...

Actually my more basic concern, is the weather -- it's proven to be rough seas literally for all of Western Japan for years now, with few breaks in sight... hope our girls and the staff/crew have their sea legs on.

I just hope they're aware of the looming kaiju that threatens the waters surrounding Japan.

Just watched the dedication segment above... what a pro Nana senchou is. Can't believe she was actually thinking of graduating from AKB not so long ago (2015) -- what a loss that would've been for 48G... and what a win for STU her presence is.

Yep Naachan was born to lead, just like her best friend Yuiri, They are so alike in thought and speech that even members sometimes get confused about who they just spoke with, even their voices sound alike. lol like literally made for each other

A little too much doom-and-gloom talk here.

This ship will be operating in the Inland Sea, not off the coast of Somalia or open ocean. Looking at its operating area, it will always be within close to the shoreline like any other ferry hopping from port-to-port in the Setouchi. Terrorist acts can occur anywhere at anytime, but if security protocols (which should be in place for any venue) are implemented correctly and consistently, it will be as safe for the girls on the ship as they would be in any other venue.

And as far as weather, Hydrographically the Inland Sea is more like a large lake than ocean. It is shallow and protected. And again, if operated professionally, there is very little risk from weather. There is a greater chance of harm riding on roads and highways than on a ship.

But I want to know where Naachan's 3 other stripes are.

Not sure where what made you think of terrorists and highway accidents or whatever but I was actually talking of obsessed fans and stalkers that Japan is so well blessed with.If handheld saws can be brought to handshake events, and members stalked to their very apartments with attempts at what not, that just shows how much companies like AKS actually care or invest in their artists' security. So for me doom and gloom needs to be accounted for before we get to the bright side of things.

Not highway accidents (huh?) -- people actually vacationing primarily for the Olympics but who may hear about STU48go (it is the only ship theatre in the industry) and -- gasp -- go get tickets. That's called 'spillover'...

@Jolly_Roger: mostly just agreeing w/ Old_AKB's comments as most civilians don't have a clue about threat assessment. And that's just it -- in Japan you may not have to worry so much about organized, armed groups, but more individuals with edged weapons (all other idol incidents and most civilian hostage situations)... but we know for a fact mgmt in a downturning industry will only spend as much as need be to save face with the public, and less about the girls. Food for thought...

I disagree with your take on the weather however -- I lived in the Seattle area for six years -- the Puget Sound is far inland and protected by geography... but every winter you get six-ft chop and our ferry (btw, almost exactly the size of STU48go) got tossed enough to occasionally knock over motorcycles on sidestands. With storms in the East Pacific only getting stronger, downtime can be a problem.
